Private Justice by Terri Blackwood is a small-town suspense with heartfelt and faith themes that includes a struggling marriage under pressure. It is fast paced, emotionally engaging, and is the first book in the Newpointe 911 series.
The small town of Newpointe, Louisiana becomes shaken like never before, when wives of the local firefighters begin to be murdered. Unthinkable and terrifying circumstances become very real when a serial killer begins stalking the town heroes.
Firefighter Mark Branning and his wife Allie are already separated, and their marriage has become very fragile because of lack of communication and temptations. The killing of the firefighter wives interrupts their relationship even more, especially when she becomes the next target. Mark goes into protection mode constantly protecting Allie.
However, danger gets too close and something happens that makes them both confront the threats both outside and inside their marriage. They both begin to see how important communication, understanding, love, and most of all God is in a marriage.
What I learned from this book is something that I feel I’m already pretty good at, which is not jumping to conclusions concerning my husband. If I feel or suspect something, I don’t just lash out. Instead, I either talk to him tenderly or just wait it out and say nothing and I usually then see that I was wrong to begin with. Although we do have struggles, as everyone does, we love and trust God to see us through!
